I'd like to point out that Gammoth as an excellent food source for Tigrex extends beyond predation and into scavenging as well. Dispersing Gammoth and solitary bulls may indeed be at more risk of predation, but far more critically, they're more likely to suffer natural mortality. Our fossils of mammoths in the real world are incredibly male-biased because males were so much more likely to die, and to die in ways that lent themselves well to fossilization. A slip in muddy terrain or a fall into deep waters could be survived by females with a herd to pull them out or help them recover, but for males, it more often than not spelled doom. Solitary Gammoth undoubtedly would suffer similar fates with similar frequency. It's entirely possible that Tigrex might forego hunting a Gammoth entirely depending on conditions but still follow it around-- a bull in peak condition may be immune to predation, but it is not immune to nature's wrath, and when that occurs, it leaves a bountiful scavenge too good to pass up. Even if it doesn't die, a solitary Gammoth, even in peak condition, that becomes bogged down in mud may suddenly lose its immunity to predation due to the difficulty moving.

Some brainstorms: We can have period movies form monster universes like how Godzilla rage across time comics handled the story. Even maybe what if scenarios where we can explore different topics with underaged 20-40 min shorts (like Star Wars Visions) even with different art styles, we can have independent non Godzilla movies (maybe more for Toho) where classic monsters have minus one treatment and try to retell the topics covered in their source material. Monsterverse can have a pandemic movie cause by meganulas and megaguirus fleeing from hollow earth from rodan. Maybe hollow earth plants that make their way to the surface (kaiju poops) and have breeding activities that destroy cities (like legion plant in gamera 2) and mothra or other kaijus need to deal with it. A titan experiencing overcharge and starts contaminating earth with radiation (burning Godzilla topic but with other monsterverse monsters). Make the monarch timeline into movies or series (mothra discovery, rodan temple etc):

I do appreciate the balanced view and giving the context around that infamous GRRM quote as the braindead mouthbreathers on twitter like to sperg out about for no real reason other than it's popular and the tv show ended like shit therefore all of it must be shit. I may have my own issues with martin but his writing is superb and going "bbut it's not as good as tolkein" doesnt mean anything. It's truly great writing but very different from what tolkein wanted in his books so they're not really comparable in the way the twitterites screech on about. I really love his books, some of my favorites, shame he cant get up off his ass to finish the series he started 2 decades ago. Great video again.

while capcom probably will fall back on brachy being a pugilist shell cracker. I always imagined it as a mix of an ore eater and a fungivore/large protist colony eater, with its symbiotic slime mold initially latching onto it to avoid predation and later becoming true symbiosis

a question I've always had, which will likely never have a true answer and go more into headcanon, is how many of these quests actually happen. A lot of them I could imagine being non-canon and existing purely for the players benefit, especially a lot of the challenge quests that show up as free dlc. With a lot of monster hunter games I see most stuff after the credits as entirely non-canon, with a non-game version of these stories probably being much smaller in scope and more about exceptionally skilled individuals helping their community and the environment alike. Although that is purely a personal interpretation, I also imagine not every hunt would result in an actual kill and I'd expect more capture or scare goals for quests just relocating a monster in an area that harms both it and the player. Monster hunter also seems to have some degree of magic-like elements, especially in terms of how extreme biology can get, so perhaps rapid mutation and evolution creating new invasives on a non-geologic timescale is more of a feasible occurrence. All that said, I enjoy how you apply this kind of lens to such a creative and silly franchise

I mean. We do have large herbivore monsters. It's just they were categorise as something else (like Gammoth, Diablos and the 2 Ram Brute Wyvern). The main reason is because it gave the hunter an actual idea as to how would the monsters behave. Herbivorous monsters that categorise as herbivore tends to be harmless, they won't attack hunter. While monsters that are categorised as something else like Gammoth being a Fanged Beast are much more aggressive. Plus hunter can eat meat that categorise as herbivore, we can eat Popo meat but not Gammoth meat. Imagine like we encounter both a sea shell and a cone snail. One is poisonous and one is not. So it is a common sense that we should categorised it into different categories in order to give the audience some differences.

Kushala and Espinas coming into conflict could be due to an extinct species (or multiple) similar to one of them, creating a now functionally vestigial behavioral relationship that one or both parties retain and reenact despite there not being a benefit for either party anymore. Although thats complete speculation on an already fictional system, for all I know kushala's not fond of spanish

Except GOT didn't come up with those concepts, or most of it's concepts really. Conan the Barbarian in the original stories gains his own kingdom and extensively goes stir crazy as he's stuck badly managing his new kingdom. Practically biting at wrists wanting a problem at the scale he can hack at with a sword on an adventure and make it go away. The Targaryens are nearly a total carbon copy of the Melniboneans declining dragon empire and all. Game of Thrones is just pretentious Sword and Sorcery with the personal scale removed and replaced with the grand scale of Epic Fantasy. Same with The Witcher too.

Behavior wise it sounds like a honey badger the size of a T-Rex. It's so violent towards everything and is so persistent that other apexs don't want to deal with it. It makes it easier to get food that way but hunters would absolutely hate it for the same reasons the other apexs would.

56:06 - The "it's quiet, too quiet" is a stereotype for sure but isn't it being a bit reductive to accuse it of being "just wrong" ? Stereotypes are never 100% _inaccurate,_ the stereotype definitely evolved from something observable (however misunderstood along the way it might have been). For example, alarm calling is more of a _social_ behavior where giving your friends an early warning of some threat provides a benefit for everyone as a whole. As one of the more mundane examples of an environment going quiet, frogs and crickets are well-known for their nightly choruses (obviously during a time when vision is less useful than sound), but will quickly go silent (even in large numbers) when something unexpected passes through their area. There could be other reasons for this sudden change in behavior, but the behavior is there regardless.

On one hand, I agree that there's a lot you could do with the worldbuilding, but it's also true that most people thought the exposition dumps were one of the worst aspects of the previous movies. That being said, I disagree that the newer movies haven't really addressed these questions. For example GvK shows that there are bunkers for specifically titan attacks, while in GxK we hear that verious governments aren't too happy with Godzilla, while Monarch insists that they must let him do his job. And in both movies we also see that Monarch closely monitors the situation whenever a titan shows up.
